Recharge rooms, a must have for happy employees

Taking a short break from work can boost our health, lower stress levels, and increase overall performance. In today’s fast-paced working environment there is often a need for relief. Often enough, companies are not equipped with adequate spaces for such activities. A new concept has appeared as of late. Modern organizations are starting to embrace the so-called “recharge rooms”. These are used to provide a room for relaxation. Not to be confused with in-house gyms with weights and treadmills, but a room meant for promoting rest, relaxation, and tranquility. These can appear in many forms that we will cover in this article.

  1. Meditation and Yoga rooms

These are the types of rooms that benefit anyone who has an interest in these valued skills. And these very skills tie in neatly with the small break method. Just five minutes at a time can help improve sleep, concentration and focus for the rest of the day. Most of us deal with large amounts of stress on a regular basis and such activities can help us get the much-needed release. These are just big enough for a couple of mats ant a table for us to put our music on. Not everyone wants to relieve tension through additional physical exercise. And for those, a quiet place with a floor mat and soothing music is just what the doctor ordered.

  1. The quiet room

Technology has taken over our lives a long time ago. It is something that we take for granted and cannot imagine our personal and professional lives without. Plenty of industries deal with various forms of technology directly, it is their product. There are plenty of health warnings that come with our dependence and reliance on technology. An electronics-free room can go a long way to improving employee wellbeing. It offers an opportunity to detach from the Internet and all its associated apparatuses. Phones and computers are turned completely off for a few minutes. The act of disconnecting will help us face the fear of missing out. Links, tweets, and posts that lead to information overload are put aside for those precious moments of tranquility. This time can be used for meaningful things like reflecting on personal and business matters and gaining a better perspective on life.

  1. Entertainment room

Many people are hardwired to be active. What it means is they do not find it relaxing to do anything previously mentioned. They still need to do something and be active, just change it up a little bit. There is a reason everyone is glued to their phones lately. Game applications are very popular as they can be played anywhere and at any time. And they are not to be dismissed easily. Mobile games, if not abused, can be used to quickly destress and relax. If the world gets too chaotic, we can quickly tune out for a while. We can take this a step further and incorporate it into our company by making space for dedicated game rooms. Beanbag chairs and game-inspired wallpapers and carpets will definitely complement a gaming console meant for relaxing and promoting socialization. And we do not have to be video game aficionados to enjoy these types of activities. This is more of an active form of unwinding, one that promotes friendly competition and interaction amongst colleagues. Outside of the work environment that is. Such areas can get technical when trying to set them up. Little room is left for a controller disconnection when a bet is being laid down and reputations are on the line. Luckily for us, there are organizations that will handle this in a professional manner like the Swing Eagle. Whatever option we decide to go with, depending on our needs, these companies will make it happen for us.

  1. Spas and massage rooms

These can seem a bit extravagant but bear with me for a minute. In a physically demanding working environment, they make a lot of sense. Not only will these amenities be very well received by the employees, but they will also drastically reduce fatigue and chances of injury. Those with medical conditions will also be greatly affected. Chronic migraines, back, and muscle aches can all be resolved with a 5 to 10-minute break. It can be as simple as ergonomic chairs and desks or even sit-stand desks for variety.

There are not that many feasible ideas for relaxation rooms but for how to do them, the options are endless. A happy worker is a productive one, and offering them a chance to vent and blow off steam will be greatly rewarded.
