What I Saw on the Way to San Juan (from Tortola)

Thought this was a good picture of some basic coastal zone issues and conditions --

This is Isleta Marina on the little island, and Fajardo, in the east end of Puerto Rico.

Well, erosion, sediment control and overdevelopment are three things that come to mind.

A bit more thinking about the safety of building shore to shore on a tiny offshore key in the center of "hurricane alley" also gives pause. Other than that, I'd say it was nearly paradise.

Oh, did I mention the cost and sustainability of all those air-conditioned buildings -- in an area actually ventilated pretty well by the trade winds?

An amazing picture! Please excuse my ignorance but when you say "coastal zone issues and conditions," what exactly are you referring to?
