Microfinance was just making an entry in many parts of India when I was part of a small team of social entrepreneurs which was assigned the onerous task of extending microfinancial services through a Microfinance Institution (MFI) to already established Self Help Groups (SHGs) in the district of Kanyakumari in the state of Tamilnadu in India in 1998. Dr. Mr. Shankar,
Thank you for the friendly invitation. I'm a social investment professional in the U.S., and have a strong interest in microfinance. I agree that we are losing our "heart" in this area as larger and less committed organizations are becoming involved. This seems to be inevitable and is true throughout the social investment field. The people who are truly dedicated to social change through these financial intermediaries will find each other nevertheless. Thank you again for finding me, and I look forward to learning more about your work in sanitation microfinance.

Thank you for sharing the information. I would like to get the details of HDFC initiatives you spearheaded. It will a point of beginning on India's Initiative on Global Compact.
Thank you so much! You made me smile. I look at the entire world and it is of great interest to me to try and be a vehicle for positive global change. I am interested in your organization, I am unfamiliar with it but will research that as well. How amazing (radio) and I wish to know more of that also. I cannot take credit for the website - but thank you and I like to get involved in so much it is difficult sometimes to hold back on just giving and learning.
I have much to add to my page here but am very excited to be a part of this.
I am living in Bali, Indonesia, my wife is Balinese and we have been blessed with four children.
I am old time development practitioner and continually search for new meaning and the best way to do development work. I read recently that in development one should “shift away from assessing the products of a program to focus on changes in behaviour, relationships, actions, and activities in the people, groups, and organizations it works with directly”. I consider this very important, even a priority, but I still believe in a balance, I mean we should also evaluate the deliverable, concrete and tangible benefits for the people. I wonder how you feel about this?
Welcome Mr. Shankar. Thank you for adding me as your friend. It's so nice to know about your vision to take the idea of Sanitation Microfinance, as a solution for the sanitation problems throughout India and its neighboring countries.

We are also working hard for a cost effective, natural solution for rural housing using bamboo, we are in the process of setting up a manufacturing unit in Hyderabad in partnership with NIRD - CII - APTDC - NMBA - APFD to produce cost effective knocked down housing components.
Please share your experiences so that we drive our initiative in the right direction.

Hi Cindy;
What a great job...
I have been teaching online for ten years and discovered that online tutoring is as good as face to face teaching but I think students need a space to share ideas, discuss issues, etc.
