Standard Chartered Bank has expanded its HIV education tools, by launching www.vir.us – an external website, dedicated to providing information about HIV and AIDS.
The website is the first of its kind in HIV education, designed to appeal to youth – with animated “edu-tainment” web-Learning modules. Visitors that pass the quiz can upload photos and comments to the website and download rewards. 15-24 year olds are not only primary users of the internet, but they also account for almost half of all new HIV infections globally, so this should be a good way of reaching a vulnerable group.
It would help to spread the word or if you would include a link to www.vir.us on your Facebook page.
this is a great initiative... but sadly the kids who really really need something like this, aren't going to get it. infrastructure just isn't like we assume it to be in many of the sub Saharan African countries hardest hit by HIV. It doesn't necessarily take away from the potential of this tool, but does show us how much further we need to extend our efforts and ideas to truly have the impact we seek
