'Financial Services for the Poor' Professional Development Course in Microfinance

The Alliance Forum Foundation is now accepting applications for our one-week 'Financial Services for the Poor' Professional Development Course in Bangladesh from September 16th to 22nd 2012. Co-organized by BRAC Development Institute, this unique course combines lecture and observational visits to microfinance institutions (MFI) in the field to provide participants with a holistic understanding of microfinance grounded in the experience of Bangladesh.
The seven day course is led by Dr. Syed M. Hashemi, Director of the BRAC Development Institute and Senior Microfinance Specialist of CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor), as well as, leading practitioners and academics from across the field of microfinance. Field visits will be made to a number of MFIs including BRAC, Grameen Bank, SafeSave, and ASA for participants to better understand microfinance in practice.
Course participation is limited to around 25-30 participants. Highly motivated individuals with a strong interest in pursuing a career in international development or microfinance should apply by the June 21st 2012 deadline.
